BioBlitz Species Inventory

As part of our conservation initiatives, we give guests the opportunity to study insects with our researchers. You can help us reveal nature’s wonders, and even get the chance to discover a brand new species!

At Amazon Emotions Jungle Lodge, we are committed to supporting research for nature conservation and furthering the understanding of the rainforest. We strive to connect our guests with the important scientific work being done at the property. That’s why we created the BioBlitz Species Inventory, a science project that allow the public to participate in the research being done around our jungle lodge, to teach them about flora and fauna and to help catalog it to help create a future nature reserve.

How exactly does this work?

Starting January 2019, you’ll have the opportunity to support this program which will include a biologist as an additional resource to make your journey in the Amazon Rainforest complete! During your booking confirmation, check additional cost and availability for this add-on.

Meet our researcher at the lodge, where they’ll explain what types of insects we’re looking for, and how to identify them. Then, you’ll get collecting tools and head to our “light trap,” a brightly lit sheet that attracts an amazing variety of insects. You will look for and collect certain types of insects at the trap.

What is a BioBlitz?

A BioBlitz is an event that focuses on finding and identifying as many species as possible in a specific area over a short period of time. At a BioBlitz, scientists, families, students, teachers, and other community members work together to get an overall count of the plants, animals, fungi, and other organisms that live in our place.
